What is the attraction for burning man? I do not see it. Boondocking in an Arizona desert during the hottest time of year. Not really looking for a link, as I have read the website, just a summary of why people do it.

I think it is because it is in a Nevada desert. I wouldn't do it either if it were in an Arizona desert!

Based on Silverflames comment I googled "burning man women" if that's the norm, I can see why people want to go.

I have many friends that have attended and would love to go. That said, I was advised not to take my fairly new truck and nice Airstream. Try to find an older SOB class C for less than $3k...take it to BM, let it get trashed and sell it to somebody that wants to go next year. Alternatively, tent camp and wash micro-fine alkali dust out of places you didn't know you had.

I'm still dying to go and not only to see the Burning Man women...Quite the display of creative talent

I might not take a NEW RV, but I took my Cessna when I went at didn't get ANY damage. Sure you can tape it sealed, but why not just expect it will need to be cleaned. Oh, don't take an RV that has carpets. The plane was great, toss a tarp over the wing and there's a huge tent, plus there is no admission if you come by air. Oh, and it only took 45 minutes to get back to the bay area, vs. 7 hours by car.

Next year I want to go with Randy!!!!......or is his name something else and he's just randy????

Nick

The attraction to Burning Man is that it's the only place and time in the US when 50,000 people get together and "The Man" is not invited. "The Man" just stays a ways back and allows anything and everything to take place, only to intrude if a death or medical emergency takes place.

"The Man" may take exception to you attending in your present capacity; nobody says "Yes Sir!".

Cheers
Tony

Not my cup of tea; boondocking in the hot, dusty, windy Black Rock desert in August just to watch a bunch of people. Apparently, the Hollywood and entertainment elite have found out about this event and its getting trendy and is changing the event flavor which doesn't appeal to many that have been going for years. Seems crazy to go to a desolate location just to be in the middle of 50k people. But to each their own.
