Burning man 2009
Thanks to everyone for the tips, including the blue painters tape, grey water solutions and tarp info. I've got some ideas kicking around and 6 - 7 weeks to pull it all together. One of the ideas I had for the gray water was to pick up several of those shallow black plastic masonry mixing tubs. They nest together nicely for transport and, if I have any gray water left over at the end, they'd be easy to pick up and pour into a container. Just have to see if I can find them cheap enough to make it worthwhile. One other question I meant to add in my original post, was whether any of you have tried dry ice. I understand one has to be careful about what one stores with it as the gas can penetrate some containers and screw up the food. One thought I had is to put conventional ice in with dry ice to make it last longer and, once the ice in my main cooler melts off, pull some of the regular ice out of the dry ice cooler?
We're looking forward to this venture and perhaps we will be able to stop and say hi once we get there.

Just keep in mind that it can (and usually does) get VERY windy at times.
Last year my string of solar lights (that I had used for several years prior)
got ripped to shreds by the wind.
Make sure what you use for shade is pretty heavy duty.
And BTW, the dust is soft and doesn't damage anything...it just gets into EVERYTHING.
Take out a lot of the stored stuff and leave everything you don't really need for this week at home.
I also cover my upholstery with blankets so my dusty friends can freely lounge in my lounge.

When we set up our camp last year (first time with our Bambi) there was one fellow in the block in front of us (as Rangers we get there pretty early). When we went to say hello, he told us that he was with the tuna guys, and I nearly peed my pants. Tuna guys across the street! And we brought our Airstream! Life is *so* good.

Ooh! Tuna Guys! We are on a quest this year! Now-where exactly were you last year?
Best wishes for a great burn!

The Tuna Guys won't even tell the people who camp with them where they will be located, but....
You all have a shoe in the door already, as there will be an Airforums member with them this year....
See ya!

Hey Thanks Monte for the map!
We've been recommended to try to camp maybe a little farther out this year, it may be more "unauthorized" for us to try to hold space before midnite too far into the circle. Us unorgainized streameres shouda registered to have our spot nailed down, but most of us alumanitises don't have much time to alucat to planing.
How about 3:30 at G, but anybody know where the latrine row will be, gotta be up wind of them.
And greetings all! DMV processing, we're trying to hold the Mutants at 500, but we've already accepted some 550 and have a couple hundred more apps to look at. Something about LEO don't want too high a MV count per BRC resident. Lots of higher up pressure coming down to our DMV bosses (same ol I guess)
Anybody wants to volunteer and feel ownership of BM, fill out the BM volunteer form, and you'll be drafted quick I'm sure. Airport is always needing help, and you can see neat airoplanes comin in, and be sure to watch their Port of Entry strip search operation.....Third busiest airport in the state that week!

That's pretty far out. I think the closer in the better but I understand we
need to take what we can get. How many of us are there this year?

Lost
If you arrived early you could understand the deluge of people who, confused and dazed, fail to realize that they just parked amongst 10 similar looking trailers.
Mark can attest to midnight raids and gate crashers throughout the week.
You wake up and step out of your Airstream onto a tent. We really have no cause to complain, not being a theme camp. Kimber may have a point about leaving a sign up, only to have someone take it down.
Perhaps Center camp would be the best and surest place to leave our camp location?
While you could not just swing by Center camp with your rig. You could park and take your bike or walk to center camp and get our location?
Discuss amongst your selves....

I agree with BamCamper, that is far out. Last year was perfect, close enough to be convenient, but far enough away from the "clubs" so noise was not a problem. Ice was close, pp's were close ... perfect. Oh, and friendly neighbors
15 people are signed up.
Any chance of all of us meeting somewhere prior to entering? Desert Rose, Walmart, Pyramid Lake or somewhere

Still jonesing and getting worse!
I'm picking up Twinkle, our Silver Streak MH today from the shop. Just had an on board gen set installed to replace an old dead unit, new metal roof vents installed and a really cool yellow and white awning. We seem to have aquired a new grey water tank leak so I get to learn how to pull panels, repair tank leaks and then how to rivet it all back together. And, I just discovered the drive line center bearing is shot and now have to search out that part on the internet and get installed.
Lots to do, lots to do. But the new genset allows for ice cold AC, sparkly night lights on the awning and ice cubes on the playa. Can't wait!!!

3:00 and INHERIT Burning Man Camp Guidepost location
The Burning Man guidepost for the Airforums camp location will be at 3:00 and Inherit. Go there a look for a plywood sign on a rebar post on one of the four intersection corners. The information will be "Airforums Camp (street address location)". We will not know the street address location until midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. We will also register "Airforums Camp" and the camp location at Playa Info at Center Camp. Have a safe trip!
